08:00 Pick up
We pick you up from your hotel
in Cape Town and head out of the city past the vast residential area
of Khayelitsha, the last large urban “Township” that established
under the Apartheid rule.
After Khayelitsha we head into
the key wine producing region of Stellenbosch and stop at Spier Estate
to visit their very successful Cheetah breeding project. You have the
opportunity (optional) to enter the enclosures and touch and have your
picture taken the graceful Cheetahs.
Following your Cheetah encounter
we visit the adjoining Raptor Rehabilitation Centre where many injured
birds are being nursed back to health for release back into the wild.
Sadly it is not always possible to release all of the beautiful birds
of prey. These are now housed here and play a valuable role in the education
of our youth.
Our journey now takes us along
the beautiful False Bay coastline that offers you stunning views of
Cape Point and the unspoilt mountain Fynbos vegetation and we stop off
at the renowned Harold Porter Botanical Gardens. We pass through the
villages of Pringle Bay and Kleinmond en-route to our destination at
Hermanus. Enjoy a lunch (own expense) in one of the many fine restaurants
or get a take out and have lunch on the cliffs overlooking Walker Bay.
After lunch we enjoy you enjoy
a two hour excursion on a sea kayak in the company of your qualified
kayak guide. You get the opportunity to get close to the dolphins and
other aquatic creatures. It is possible that you will encounter some
passing whales, even out of the peak whaling season between July and
October.
We leave Hermanus in the late afternoon
for the scenic drive back to Cape Town via the town of Grabouw. We drop
you back at your hotel at approximately 18:00 in the evening.
Outdoor activities are weather dependant. Animal
sightings are not guaranteed.
